Programs Chemical Engineering. Options: Chemical or Biochemical and Environmental Make the world a greener place. Chemical engineers design, develop and operate chemical and biochemical processes to make products, such as plastics, polymers, medicines, food, fuels, fertilizers, detergents, cosmetics, and consumer goods, at minimum cost in a safe and environmentally sustainable way.
Bachelor Degree - 4 yr. The Bachelor Degree (Four-Year) must include at least a Specialization module or at least one Major module. Registration in the Bachelor Degree (Four-Year) usually begins in the second year, but admission may be gained in the third or fourth year.
FIRST YEAR Requirements: To be eligible for admission to the Honors Specialization Program B.Sc.-DCN, students must complete 5.0 first-year courses by May 1, with no failures, and must have an average of at least 75% in 3.0 principal courses, with no mark in these principal courses below 60% (however, because this is a competitive program, the cut-off average is usually above the minimum of 75%.
The readings are pretty contemporary and accessible. I was a first year in Arts, but I know that a lot of more classmates were upper year science students also looking to fulfill the essay requirement and they seemed to be pretty active in the course from what I saw in tutorial.
Students have to give a 15-minute oral presentation of the essay to their tutor and a small group of other second year students, normally in week 9 of Term 2. This presentation is a compulsory requirement and 20% of the essay mark is allocated to the quality of the presentation.
